OLD FIELDS PARK AT THE STANDARD ON BOND
Goddard Companies, aided by the generosity of numerous private donors and a thirty year land lease from Harford Mutual Insurance, developed a much desired pocket park along Bond Street. The park is called ‘Old Fields’ because Bel Air was originally known as “Scott’s Old Fields” and was part of a land grant issued to Daniel Scott in 1731. In March 1782 “Belle Aire” was designated the county seat of Harford County. At the turn of the twentieth century the “e” was dropped and the second “l” and its companion “e” gave way a few years later.

Goddard Companies was the proud recipient of a Project Restore 2.0 Grant from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development which partially funded the nearly $1.2M cost to historically renovate and re-activate this five-building assemblage of which three buildings were long vacant and severely deteriorated. The project, which is situated along an entire block of Bel Air’s iconic Office Street, was rebranded “Barrister’s Row” in homage to the numerous prestigious attorneys and law firms who have made their business homes along Office Street which is adjacent to both the District and Circuit Courts of Harford County.
